San Diego Theatre – If you crave a production at one of the San Diego theaters, there are many talented theater companies in San Diego. Below you will find many places to catch a performance, ranging from contemporary works to the well-known Shakespeare. Other places to keep in mind are California Center for the Performing Arts in Escondido which puts on their own productions, as well as the East County Performing Arts Center, located on 210 E. When you enjoy a night at this great theater, remember that this is a Tony Award-winning theater. Located near the entrance of Balboa Park, you will witness great masterpieces by Shakespeare.

La Jolla Playhouse

Many productions have passed through this theater house. Before it went on to Broadway status, the play How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying, which featured Matthew Broderick, made an appearance here.

Lamb’s Players Theatre

Located in the historic Spreckels Building, come to this venue and enjoy great productions and good company. This theater offers an intimate setting, where no seat is found seven rows from the stage.

Diversionary Theatre

This theater was founded in 1985 with a main goal to focus on plays with gay and lesbian themes. Some past hits have included M Butterfly, Love! Valour! Compassion!, and Psycho Beach Party.

San Diego Repertory Theatre

When you choose to spend an evening of entertainment at this venue, you can choose from the 545-seat Lyceum Stage or the 260-seat Lyceum Space in Horton Plaza. Come see a performance worth talking about. Past productions have included It Ain't Nothin' But the Blues and Three Mo' Divas.
